The Ceremony (15)

When the body of an illegal colleague is found on site, Romanian car-wash supervisor Cristi knows that discovery of the death will destroy the business and upend the lives of all the workers supported by it. Fearing retribution from the car-wash’s owner, he decides to quietly dispose of the body with the help of Yusuf, a stubborn Kurdish worker who agrees to help, but only if he’s allowed to perform a religious burial for his countryman.

With only a single day and night to fulfil their mission, the pair head out of Bradford into the wintry expanse of the Yorkshire Dales to search for a suitable secluded spot. As they drive, they turn to conversations around their lives, and their situations, and as nerves begin to fray a righteous clash of morals emerges which threatens to derail their journey and put them both in danger…

From director Jack King, The Ceremony tells an affecting story of two souls conflicted by their personal differences but bound by their common humanity and unwavering sense of morality.

Winner of the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Sean Connery Award in 2024, The Ceremony is part crime story, part road-movie, and part-surrealist drama and gives an acute insight into the modern migrant experience.

Whether you're reliving the danger of a sabotaged atomic airliner in Trapped in the Sky or the dramatic mission to save New York from disaster in Terror in New York City, this cinema double bill is a must-see celebration of Thunderbirds in all its explosive glory. FAB!

Bursting with action, suspense, and Gerry Anderson’s groundbreaking Supermarionation, these fan favourites showcase International Rescue at its very best—combining daring rescues, stunning model work, and unforgettable characters.

Unable to land for fear of setting off the bomb, the crew and passengers' only hope of survival lies with International Rescue.

Terror In New York City

Largely regarded as the most exciting Thunderbirds episode made, after Thunderbird 2 is heavily damaged in a mistaken attack, it leaves the team seemingly without a swift means to transport any rescue gear to New York City to save a news crew trapped underneath the collapsed Empire State Building.

Young Mothers (12A)

The Dardenne brothers once again bring audiences a moving portrayal of real lives with their latest social-realist drama Young Mothers, which took home the Best Screenplay prize at Cannes earlier this year.

Following five adolescent mothers living together at a maternal support home in Belgium, the film is a true-to-life portrait of the struggles faced by these young women living on or near the margins of society. The directors spent time in one of these state-run facilities in their home country to research how it runs, the people it helps and the social workers who make it possible, making sure to stay as true to reality as possible. Their in-depth knowledge of the topic and compassionate approach to the people they are portraying results in a film that is not only deeply affecting, but one that is also detailed, sympathetic and nuanced.

From drug addiction to precarious living situations, these women must face the challenges of their situation individually, but living together in this communal home gives them the tools, support and the community they need in order to do so.

Motherboard (15)

Motherboard charts the joy, pain and comedy of raising a child alone. It’s a celebration of messy lives and proof that epic journeys can begin and end at home.

At the age of 38, Victoria found herself single, pregnant and broke. Unable to combine motherhood with freelance directing, she was forced to abandon her career in TV, instead turning the camera on herself and her son, Jim. Victoria first began documenting their lives with her old DVCAM before shooting almost daily on five generations of smartphones, from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 15. She recorded hundreds of hours of footage, capturing each twist and turn in Jim’s life, from the thumbs-up he gave during her first scan, to his first day at college.

Motherboard is a celebration of messy lives, solo motherhood, and proof that epic journeys can begin and end at home. Over two decades, Victoria captures a life where breast cancer, absent fathers and depression are part of the package, but where life still wins every time. And where everything will be fine as long as you don’t lose your sense of humour.

Motherboard is the antidote to the judgmental and unrealistic expectations we have about motherhood, creating an honest, funny and relatable film for any mother who has wept tears of both joy and frustration.

Radiohead X Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (PG)

Silents Synced pairs classic silent movies with epic rock music to bring audiences a unique big screen experience. This reimagining of the iconic Nosferatu (1922) features Radiohead’s Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001) albums.

An unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Nosferatu (1922) is the quintessential silent vampire film, crafted by legendary German director F. W. Murnau. Rather than depicting Dracula as a shape-shifting monster or debonair gentleman, Murnau’s Graf Orlok (as portrayed by Max Schreck) is a nightmarish, spidery creature of bulbous head and taloned claws - perhaps the most genuinely disturbing incarnation of vampirism yet envisioned.

Dreaming of You: The Making of the Coral (15)

Emerging from a wild, working-class dreamscape of friendship, fame and fuzzy guitars, this is the story of six Wirral teens who became The Coral and shook the British indie scene.

Dreaming of You is a nostalgic, immersive coming-of-age documentary charting the rise of The Coral, six childhood mates from the Wirral who turned suburban misfit energy into musical magic. Set against the backdrop of 1990s Britain, in particular the vibrant music scene in the north of England, the film mixes playful animation, gritty archive, and intimate audio diaries to tell the band’s story in their own words. As they escape the sleepy streets of Hoylake for the chaos of the early 2000s indie explosion, their journey captures the thrill and confusion of chasing a dream. With a distinct Britpop-era aesthetic and deep emotional resonance, Dreaming of You is a heartfelt ode to friendship, creativity and the messy pursuit of fame.
